C.A.M.P. USA Inc., of Golden, Colorado, is recalling about 2,230 mountain ice axes because a screw can loosen during use, causing the handle or pick to detach and posing a risk of serious injury or death from a fall hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. No injuries had been reported as of the Nov. 5, 2026, recall notice.
The recall covers the X-Dream (model 3570) in batches 10/24, 07/25, 10/25 and 12/25; the X-Dream Total Dry (model 3609) in batches 10/24, 07/25 and 11/25; the X-All Mountain Hammer (model 3630) in batches 10/24 and 09/25; and the X-All Mountain Adze (model 3631) in batches 10/24 and 09/25. A nut and bolt accessory kit, model 3641, was also sold separately. The batch number is on the side of the shaft, and CAMP appears in white lettering on the shaft.
The axes were sold at REI stores nationwide and online at Camp-usa.com, Backcountry.com, Amazon.com and REI.com from November 2025 through September 2026 for between $30 and $330, the CPSC said. The axes were made in Italy.
The CPSC said consumers should stop using the recalled axes immediately and register at https://www.camp-usa.com/x-bolt-recall-102026 to receive a free repair kit, with the model and batch number available. Consumers can contact C.A.M.P. for a free repair kit with instructions to repair the axes themselves or have the firm repair them; the firm will send a prepaid shipping label and packaging to return the recalled axes.
Consumers can reach C.A.M.P. toll-free at 877-421-2267 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT Monday through Friday, email warranties@camp-usa.com, or visit www.camp-usa.com and click on Safety Recalls at the bottom of the page.
